About our Instructor: Arnold Nicholas has been involved in two fields for a number of years: Personal computing and digital photography. He bought his first personal computer (Commodore PET) in January 1978. He worked for BCTel/TELUS for 36 years but for 29 years here in Chilliwack he was part of a team who worked on a mainframe telephony computer. His Digital Photography started in 1999 when he bought his first Point & Shoot camera. A 2 megapixel Nikon Coolpix 950. In those early days there were no photography classes or books so he taught himself the finer points of using a digital camera. Since then he has taken several photography classes and attended many seminars and workshops furthering his knowledge of photography. From those early days Arnold has gone through several Point and Shoot cameras leading up to the big bodied Digital SLR type cameras of today. Since that first digital camera Arnold realized the future of photography was going to be digital and closely connected to computers. Arnold has also taught himself other computer programs that are photography related. Power Point and Photoshop Elements to name a couple. Arnold loves to share his knowledge taking up teaching at the Chilliwack Eldercollege after he retired in 2009. He also does private tutoring if students work shift work and cannot attend fix time and date classes. He can be seen around town taking in special events such as taking photos at our Canada Day Celebration and Party in the Park but he mostly loves landscape photography. On a sunny day he can be seen at Minter Gardens or Bridal Falls tutoring a student in photography or just being there taking in the beauty of the area. |
