Our Instructors
Cenobia Andress is Originally from the Caribbean Latin country of Panama, where she taught dance for over 15 years, she now teaches authentic Latin Dance classes in Chilliwack. She is a vivacious, bright and energetic teacher.
Anudeep Arora Has been a professional performer and teacher for 8 years and has participated in various Youth Festivals during her studies in India. She is trained in four different traditional East Indian Dance forms and classic Mime. She has also worked for two television Drama Series in Canada.
Doreen Bell Holds a degree in Fine Arts and is a High School Teacher with many years of Teaching Art and Spanish in BC Schools and Mexican Universities. She is an instructor of drawing, painting and ceramics.
Stephanie Brown has been crafting from the age of 6 beginning with paper-doll dress designs. Over the years she has learned many crafting and textile techniques, as she is always looking for something new. Having taught private craft classes she is now doing crafting parties for kids, and is excited to offer her classes at the Chilliwack Arts Council.
Louise Hamilton has been weaving for thirty five years; she has taken many work shops and seminars on weaving and spinning. She has taught weaving to beginners many times and loves to share her knowledge.
Sue Johnson Has studied, attended workshops and has extensive performance experience in Belly Dance. She is an excellent practitioner of Middle Eastern Dance, has her own troupe: Mystic Gypsies, and is a qualified instructor with a teacher’s soul.
Darlene Kee Holds a Bachelor of Education in Art. She has enjoyed creating art with young students in the school classroom, & through other programs such as Arts Umbrella. She has worked in a variety of media from traditional fine arts to textiles and pottery.
Carolyn MacLaren has been a potter for 10 years, focusing primarily on functional pottery. In addition to developing her practice through her work, she has completed a number of ceramic workshops across Canada and recently completed the Medalta International Artists in Residency Medicine Hat, Alberta. Carolyn lives in Langley with her husband and two young daughters.
Holly McKeen Studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts in the late seventies, and has had a love of clay ever since. Over the past several years she has attended workshops and ceramics courses with Potters from all over the world, and now specializes in crystalline glazed porcelain. She enjoys life as a full-time Studio Potter, and operates Greendale Pottery.
Linda McRae combines her training in theatre at Grande Prairie College and UFV with over 20 years of acting, teaching, directing and producing experience. She adds a great sense of fun to her theatre programs.
Lyn Novack is an experienced weaver. Her in home retail business Lavender Cottage deals in weaving supplies and equipment and is very knowledgeable in materials used for weaving.
Louise O’Donnell has been spinning and knitting for 35+ years. In 1991 she received her Master Spinners Certification from the Handweavers Guild of America. Ten years ago she took up the art of “ Temari – Japanese Embroidered Thread Balls”. In 2006 she passed Level 1 – Honka and Level 2 – Koutouka on her way to the Japanese Temari Masters program. Louise has taught many people to spin and to make temari’s over the years and looks forward to a new generation of students.
Gillian Powers has volunteered with the Youth Arts Council for many years promoting Arts in the community. Now having recently completed her BA Degree at UFV in Visual Arts, she looks forward to pursuing her passion in the form of a Master’s Degree in Film Studies… ideally in Scotland.
Marlene Randall was taught to knit at age 7 and has been contentedly knitting ever since! Earning an Award of Outstanding Achievement in Textile Crafts, and furthering her accumulation of knitterly knowledge over four decades of experience, she attributes much of the fine tuning of her skill to the TKGA Master Knitters Program.
Sue Schellenberg is the owner of “Schellenberg Pottery” shop & studio in Yarrow, Sue specializes in functional and hand built carved art pieces. Her respect for history has given her an appreciation of the ability to create something that can last hundreds of years. She enjoys sharing her passion with others, both in the classroom, or with guests stopping by her shop.
Matthew Vogt has over 6 years experience in both the film and game industries. He has written curriculum for game studios, the Abbotsford school district and the Vancouver Institute of Media Arts.
