Tyler Lemermeyer

I’m Tyler Lemermeyer, and I've been a freelance multidisciplinary artist primarily focusing on illustration and murals since 2010, working in Calgary, Alberta.

I use a limited but vibrant colour palette for each project to create a final product that is both playful and bold. When working digitally, I try to maintain a traditional look by incorporating textures and 'imperfections'. My style is always evolving as I seek for the perfect balance of abstraction and realism.

A sketchbook and a plethora of paint markers are always nearby. In them, I draw inspiration from my surroundings and document my life experiences.

My artistic practice delve into the realm of nostalgia and memory, capturing overlooked spaces and ideas from previous sketchbooks. These discoveries are then metamorphosed into vibrant and fragmented compositions that evoke a sense of place. I strike a delicate balance between emotional resonance and chaotic energy, using layering and fragmentation to create depth and meaning.

Simultaneously, I embrace joy and whimsy, frequently incorporating humour and playfulness—whether through whimsical characters, lighthearted illustrations, or interactive murals. I am also passionate about public art and firmly believe in dismantling barriers to allow accesibility of art for everyone. I hope that this accessibility allows my work to be savoured in shared environments.
